Cargo oil pump
This pump is a type of marine pump. Pumps used on the ship are called marine pumps. The principal function of the cargo oil pump on the vessels is to discharge oil from the ship's tanks to the onshore tanks at the destination port, and it is installed on the tankers. Sometimes this pump can be used as ballast water to adjust the depth of the vessel in the water.
There is usually a pump room in the rear of the ship, which is located between the engine room and the tanks. The cargo oil pump is installed in this room. In general, the pumps are kept as low as possible.
Pumping process
The oil pumping process is not uniform. At the beginning of this process, the oil is almost large. The oil is removed from the surface of 5 meters or more through this pump. Through time, as the pumping process takes place, the liquid amount in the tank decreases gradually. At this stage, some air may enter the oil outlet through the suction nozzle. Performance power
Pumping speed and pump head diameter vary depending on the size of the vessel. The flow rate is between 1500 and 9000 cubic meters per hour, and the pump head is 150 meters on average. Apart from submersible pumps used for low currents, double-suction pumps are used at the highest speeds due to their fine suction capacity.
Cargo oil pump design
For both horizontal and vertical pumps, the preference is given to the axial split designs of the pump chamber with impellers that have two entries. For vertical pumps, a single-entry, single-stage, and radial design can be requested.
The solid oil or grease rolling bearings are located adjacent to the casing. Sealing is done using a mechanical seal. Induction is used if the NPSH values are low.
